This is Mal Cowtan’s second exhibition at the Northlight Gallery and the theme is circular.

Exploring this in fabric and thread he has specifically taken the decision not to divide the images as if cutting a cake but has allowed the drape and fall of the fabrics used to dictate the construction augmented by both hand and machine stitching.

Not all the pieces are circular but all reference it including a series of mono prints in which he has included mixed media enlivening the black ink on white paper with points of bright colour.

In both these mediums chance has played an important part and has been embraced and enhanced to present crisp and clean pieces for the exhibition
