Bounded Islands

14 - 27th November 2020

Four of the Móti Collective artists, Kristyn Grieve, Amy Beeston, Norna Sinclair and Kerrianne Flett showed in Northlight windows as part of the exhibition called 'Bounded Islands', which was held in windows along the street in Stromness.

Kristyn's hanging sculpture called 'These Islands Hold Us' asked the questions "Are we bound in islands of protection or possession? Do you think they hold us in sanctuary or isolation?

Amy's collage, called 'Dead Sands', made a piece that describes the predicted effects of climate change on the land in Stenness where her maternal family has lived in recent generations.

Norna's, artwork called 'Edges', explored the liminal boundary between land and sky, reflecting on our psyche when our freedoms are restricted, bounded in time and space.

Kerrianne called her porcelain and steel sculptural piece 'Islander' and quoted John Donne "No man is an island, Entire of itself, Every man is a piece of the continent, A part of the main".
